1. Overview
Chris Aitken Consulting (“we”, “us” or “our”) provides MBA admissions consulting services. We are committed to handling personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), even where a particular engagement or client is not otherwise subject to that Act. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and store it, and the choices and rights available to you.
2. Information we collect
Depending on which services you enquire about or order, we may collect:
- Contact details, including your name, email address, phone number, and Skype ID or similar contact handle
- Application materials you choose to share with us, such as resumes, essays, application forms, target schools, and interview dates
- Correspondence between you and us, including messages submitted through our contact and order forms
- Basic, aggregated website analytics (see clause 8, Cookies and analytics)
We do not collect payment card details directly - any payments are processed by a third-party payment provider, which has its own privacy policy governing that information.
3. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you submit an enquiry or order form on this website, upload a document, or otherwise correspond with us by email or during a consultation. We do not knowingly collect personal information from third parties without your knowledge.
4. How we use and disclose personal information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide the consulting services you have requested
- Review and provide feedback on the application materials you share with us
- Communicate with you about scheduling, invoicing, and the progress of your engagement
- Improve our services and this website
We do not sell your personal information. We only disclose personal information to third parties where necessary to deliver our services (for example, our website hosting provider, form-processing provider, or payment processor), where required by law, or with your consent.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we rely on to run this website and process forms (including hosting, form-submission handling, and privacy-focused analytics) may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps, so far as practicable, consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8, to ensure that recipient does not breach the Australian Privacy Principles in relation to that information.
6. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Application documents and correspondence are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services and meet our record-keeping obligations, after which they are securely deleted.
7. Access and correction
You may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. We will respond to such requests within a reasonable period. In some limited circumstances permitted by law we may need to refuse a request for access or correction, in which case we will explain why.
8. Cookies and analytics
This site uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect or store any personally identifiable information about individual visitors. It reports aggregated, anonymised traffic statistics only, such as page views and referral sources.
9. Complaints
If you have a concern about how your personal information has been handled, please contact us using the details below so we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
